Biscoff vs Kinder Bueno vs Oreo: Which Loaded Brownie Should You Try?

Three brownies. One spare hour and a strong cup of tea. I have worked my way through all of them more times than my dentist would like, so here is the honest version.

A loaded brownie lives or dies on its base. Get that wrong, and no topping will save it. The good ones are dense, a bit gooey in the middle, and just set at the edges. Once you have that, the topping decides the rest.

The Biscoff brownie

This is the crowd favourite, and for good reason. Lotus Biscoff spread melts into the warm sponge and turns the whole slice soft and toffee-like. You get that warm caramel flavour with a gentle cinnamon note, plus crushed biscuit on top for crunch. It is sweet. Properly sweet. If you like a pudding that tastes like a hug, this is your one.

The catch is balance. Without a good cocoa-heavy base underneath, a Biscoff brownie tips into sickly after three or four bites. Pair it with black coffee, and it behaves itself.

The Kinder Bueno brownie

Lighter on its feet. The hazelnut cream and wafer cut through the chocolate instead of stacking more sweetness on top. You get crunch from the wafer, a milky finish from the shell, and a nutty edge that stops the whole thing from feeling heavy. Children love it. Adults pretend they bought it for the children.

If Biscoff is too much for you, pick this. It is the most moreish of the three, which gets dangerous when a full tray is sitting in front of you, and nobody is watching.

The Oreo brownie

The grown-up choice, oddly enough. Oreo brings a slight bitterness from the dark biscuit, and that keeps the sugar in check. Cookies and cream against a fudgy chocolate base is a clever pairing. You get vanilla from the filling, a faint salt edge, and proper texture from the broken biscuit pieces.

It is the least sickly of the three and the easiest to eat a second slice of. Some people find it a touch plain next to the other two. I call that restraint.

So which one wins?

It depends entirely on your mood, and I mean that.

Want comfort and full-on sweetness? Biscoff. Want crunch and a lighter bite? Kinder Bueno. Want something you can eat without needing a lie-down afterwards? Oreo.

Buying for a group makes the answer obvious. Get one of each and watch them go at different speeds. Biscoff disappears first with the sweet tooth. Oreo wins the quiet vote from the people on their second cup of tea. Kinder Bueno sits in the dangerous middle, where everyone “just has a small piece” until the tray is empty.

My own ranking shifts by the week. Today I would reach for the Oreo, because I want two slices and I would like to keep some dignity. Ask me on a cold Sunday, and Biscoff wins by a mile.

A quick tip before you buy

Check the base first. Press the top gently. If it springs back like cake, walk away. A real loaded brownie should feel dense and a little squidgy under your finger. The flashy topping is the easy part. A proper fudgy base is the bit most places get wrong.

So buy the best brownie you can find. Then argue about the topping.
